ANNUAL BUSINESS CONFERENCE 2011 REVIEW DATE: WEDNESDAY, JULY 6, 2011 LOCATION: SHERATON UNIVERSAL SPEAKER: VALORIE KONDOS FIELD, HEAD COACH, UCLA GYMNASTICS ATTENDEES: 155 W e had an excellent turnout of 155 attend - ees at the 2011 Annual Business Confer - ence. Board members were extremely supportive in purchasing one or more tables for their guests. The lead officers from T.R.A.P. were in attendance. Valorie Kondos Field received a Certificate of Special Recognition from Los Angeles City District 5 Coun - cilmember Paul Koretz. Legislators were represented by staff from the following offices: Assembly Speaker John Perez; As - sembly Districts, 38, 44, 51, 52, 53, and 58; representatives from Congresswomen Linda Sanchez and Lucille Roybal-Allard offices; and Senator Dianne Feinstein. Van Nuys High School students Tranice Hill and Shane Sul- livan and their teacher Joe Agruso were present to accept recognition for taking 11th Place at the National Automotive Technology competition in New York City in April 2011. UCLA Gymnastics Head Coach, Valorie Kondos Field, shared with the audience her experience coming from ballet and dance and transforming her professional career by accepting the leadership post as the head coach in the Gymnastics De- partment at UCLA. She spoke about the need to build a team from the ground up and emphasizing personal responsibility and academic and athletic discipline to build a long-termwin- ning position. She related her experience at UCLA to the challenges faced by our new car dealer members in Los Angeles.
