Dear Colleagues, ur report is important tomem- bers of our Association, friends in the indus- try, and our political representatives and their staffs from local, state, and fed- eral governments. It lets them know how vital our industry is to the health of our com- munities and howmuch we contribute to our local economy. In Los Angeles County currently there are 270 franchised new car dealerships, and despite a very difficult economy in recent times we continue to be a driving force in our communities. During the past year we welcomed many Fiat, Hyundai, and Kia dealerships doing business in Los Angeles County. Our dealerships employ over 29,500 full- time workers. We sell approximately 503,000 new and used vehicles and collect close to a billion dollars in sales tax rev- enue each year. We contribute millions of dollars to local charities. On the following pages are the highlights of Association accomplishments in 2011- 2012. Our Association is involved in a variety of activities designed specifically to help strengthen our businesses and our communities. The Los Angeles Auto Showhas been held in November for six consecutive years. Moving the show to the fall dates has impacted the Showpositivelywith higher media coverage compared to previous years. The 2012 LA Auto Show dates were Press Days: Novem- ber 28th and 29th; Sneak Preview: Novem- ber 29th; and Public Days: November 30th through December 9th. With the completion of L.A. Live and con- tinuous remodeling of hotels and construc- tion of restaurants around and near the Los Angeles Convention Center we expect that out-of-town press attendance andmanufac- turer representation will continue to grow. Our Association has always engaged in grassroots meetings with our local legis- lative representatives. After many years of discussions about LA City business tax reform, our efforts were finally success- ful. On July 3, 2012, the Los Angeles City Welcome to the 2011 – 2012 membership year edition of our Annual Report. 2
