Council approved an ordinance exempting the retail sale of new passenger vehicles from the business tax. The ordinance was signed by Mayor Villaraigosa and the exemption goes into effect on January 1, 2013. Thanks to everyone who participated in accomplishing this milestone event. We had an outstanding response and sup- port from local dealers, manufacturers, and local colleges for our annual Los Angeles County High School Automotive Technol- ogy Competition. We are excited to report that we have continued to place in the top twelve among thirty national teams in the past two years. Through your support we are connecting local high-school automotive programswith greatmentors in the industry.
