6 www.glancda.org Executive Director’s MESSAGE Bob Smith GREATER LOS ANGELES NEW CAR DEALERS ASSOCIATION A fter six months of 2016, the retail automobiles business continues strong on a local, state and national level! National figures currently project new vehicle sales to exceed 2015 and possibly reach 17.8 million units! In addition to this, there is also a slight increase in the number of full time jobs inside the dealership, which is indicative of confidence in the economy going forward. GLANCDA participated in Dealer Day in Sacramento in mid-March, meeting with state assembly members and senators! This advocacy work on behalf of all our dealer members is crucial to the operating interests of new car dealers throughout the state. The biggest issues continue to be the role of the dealer in getting safety recalls done for its customers, and the availability and affordability of zero emis- sion and hybrid vehicles. Later this year, GLANCDA will once again meet with members of Congress in Washington D.C. and discuss legislation at the Federal level and either support or oppose bills that impact our dealer members. We hope you will consider joining us on June 14 at the Universal Sheraton for our Annual Dealer Member Luncheon. This year we are offering two complimentary seats to the Primary Rooftop of our dealer members that are paid current through the end of 2016. Please contact me if you are interested in attending, and if you need review your current membership standing. We have Charlie Cook speaking who is certain to provide entertaining and informative information about the presi- dential election this year, and other relevant political campaigns at the state level. Hope to see you soon, and thank you for continuing to support the work of the association! 
