Note: monthly recording of registrations occurs when the data is processed by the DMV. This can impact the measurement of registrations in individual months. The county market was off 1.6% during the first four months of this year versus a year earlier. Light truck registrations were up 13.6% while passenger cars fell 10.7%. The three month moving average of new vehicle regis- trations decreased slightly in April of this year versus a year earlier. Jaguar, FIAT, Chevrolet, Subaru, Chrysler and Hyun- dai new vehicle registrations were up by more than 10% during the first four months of this year. The three month moving average is less erratic than monthly registrations, which can fluctuate due to such factors as the timing of manufacturer incentive programs, weather and title processing delays by governmental agencies.
