7 Issue 2 2017 F rederick E. “Fritz” Hitchcock is owner and operator of three automobile dealerships located in Southern California: Puente Hills Toyota in City of Industry, California; Northridge Toyota inNorthridge, California; Toyota of Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, California. Hitchcock Commercial Proper- ties LP, Hitchcock Real Estate Holdings and Hitchcock Automotive Resources all in City of Industry, California and Automotive Consulting, LLC and Hitchcock Invest- ments, LTD in Las Vegas, Nevada. His dealerships have won numerous industry awards for customer satisfaction, parts, service and sales volume. An Iowa native, a graduate of SacredHeartHighSchool inOelwein, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa for three years. Fritz Hitchcock began his automotive career as a management trainee with Chrysler’s Dodge Division in Ana- heim, California, where he rose to be a District Sales Manager before leaving to join William’sManagement Company, a multi-line auto dealer in Encino, California. His first newauto dealership, acquired in 1969, was LeonAmes/Marina Ford inRedondo Beach, California, which he sold in 1979 to relocate to City of Industry, California. Mr. Hitchcock has served as Chairman of the 7,800 dealer-member American Inter- national Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) and they renamed their annual Grassroots Leadership Award in his honor, and was also named as its first recipient in May 2016. He is a Co-Founder of the Automotive Free International Trade Politi- cal Action Committee (AFIT-PAC) based in Alexandria, VA. He has also served as President of the CaliforniaNewCar Dealers Association and Chairman of the Toyota and Mazda National Dealer Councils. Mr. Hitchcock is past President of the State of California’s New Motor Vehicle Board and was Southern California Director of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and a 27-year President’s Club member of the NADA-PAC. Mr. Hitchcock is the past (2013) Chairman of the Cali- fornia Chamber of Commerce (CalChamber). Mr. Hitchcock is an Ambassador of the National Automobile Dealer’s Charitable Foundation. His personal awards include the 1988 and 1995 All-Star Dealer Award from Sports Illustrated magazine, 1998 and 2011 Quality Dealer Award from Time magazine for the state of California and the 2010 Community Service Award from the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership. He is the 2012 recipient of the California Highway Patrol’s Commissioner’s Award for the CHP 11-99 charitable foundation for widows and orphans of those officers killed in the line of duty. His scholarship fund has provided debt free college educations for over 78 people in- cluding two doctors.
