2 W e have passed the halfway mark for 2019, and I'm proud to say that the association is thriving. Our June annual membership meeting was a success with almost 300 people in attendance. Additionally, we hosted a number of automotive technician recruiting events in 2018/2019 with the nine area community college automotive students and instructors. The dealership participation in these events, and the feedback we have re- ceived was overwhelmingly positive. We will continue to host these events when the 2019/2020 school year starts up, and do our part showcasing the wonderful careers that exist inside a new car dealership. The spring/summer months have been productive with many meetings with state and federal elected officials. Dealer par- ticipation in these meetings have helped our elected officials understand the needs and challenges our industry faces. The state franchise bill (AB179) continues to move through the various legislative committees, and hopefully will get signed into law later this year. The association will continue to lend a hand to the efforts of the state association (CNCDA). The need for this legislative fix in balancing the relationship with our OEM partners is vital work for all our dealer members. We hope you will consider attending this year’s LA Auto Show. This year, the show runs from November 22 to De- cember 1. Dealers who wish to attend will have an option to purchase discounted group tickets direct from the LA Auto Show. The complimentary ticket program that has been in place in years past has come to an end in 2019. The show will once again be one of the world’s biggest, and most attended auto shows. The opportunity to see all the makes and models of vehicles that dealers have to sell is truly a magnificent event.
